BLUEBERRY STRIPES

by

Last year I made a dress for my friend Annie, and it was so cute on her that I made a shirt version of it. I see the colors as blue and gray, but the fabric does tend to look purple. What do you think?

blueberry stripesIt’s a V-neck with 3/4 length sleeves–a very elegant design if I say so myself. The jersey was taken from downtown Fabric Planet to the Venice store, because I knew how chic and popular it would be (sad that there isn’t any more!). The more observant among you may recognize this same pattern from an earlier top, also modeled by Miss Cassandra. I’m sure I’ll keep making this pattern in other fabrics for years to come.

LEGGINGS EXPLOSION!

by

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: leggings are great! Wear them with your costume to keep you warm on the playa, or put them under a dress for going out to dinner. They don’t take up a lot of space, are comfortable to wear, and can go with anything.

Check out these leggings and more in my Etsy shop!

All these pictures are of my friend Svetlana, who does aerial silk and is a fantastic model!

By the way, in case you missed it I’m included in the 2011 Burning Man Resource Listing! It’s been a great motivation to make a variety of costume pieces and actually post them, and all that work is actually starting to pay off. I’ve also joined the Etsy Black Rock Crew to network with fellow crafter-burners. It takes a lot of time and effort, but it’s so exciting to see my little business grow.

STRIPEDY LEGGINGS

Leggings are a pretty important staple on the playa at Burning Man. They’re fabulous, warm, and so sexy, especially when modeled by the mysterious Cassandra!

This lycra was neat on the bolt, and it got amazing when stretched over a booty! Oh, how I wish I had more of it… [I actually do, but it’s earmarked to make a pair of bodysuits!] Since metallic fabrics can be scratchy sometimes, I used the front side of this fabric for the inside, so it’s slinky smooth and great for dancing. I made 6 pairs and kept one for myself; the rest (in sizes XS, S, M) are all available in the Etsy shop!

Another amazing fabric that I wish I had more of! But if you’ve got to use up the last bits of a fabric, what a way to use it up, right?! These leggings are made from a fleece-backed jersey. They are so warm and stretchy, and can you get enough of those colors in vertical stripes? Also, those lines going over the hips and into the knees is just so Egon Schile and it thrills me every time I see these pictures. They are also available in the Etsy shop, with either the fleece or the jersey on the outside.

There are lots more styles of leggings in that Etsy shop I keep plugging, with more being sewn and added all the time!
